Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools  - Contact the principal of your school or your school's PTA for assistance with school uniforms or clothing needs for a school age child.

Financial Assistance

NOTE: Please contact in the order listed for best results.

(1) Work First staff - For families with minor children who are not currently receiving TANF. The intake worker may offer the Benefit Diversion option if appropriate. Benefit Diversion is an alternative to traditional -'-- cash assistance for families and is designed to help families with a temporary crisis associated with employment. The situation must: be related to maintaining or accepting employment, have occurred during a short break between jobs, or be related to receipt of financial resources that will meet the family's needs (such as SS1). Apply at Department of Social Services, 301 Billingsley Rd.; 704-353-1500.

(2) Consumer Credit Counseling Housing Services', 704-332-4191. AII requests to Crisis Assistance Ministry for help with mortgage payments must come through this agency. Must be at least two months behind in payments. Call for appointment.

(3) Crisis Assistance Ministries (CAMI; 704-371-3000: CAM can assist with overdue rent with an eviction notice and overdue utilities with a disconnection notice. CAM is located at the Community Services Center, 500 spray St. The agency opens at 8:0Oa.m. - persons in line at 8:00 will be given a number to determine the order in which they will be interviewed. Please bring a picture ID, social security cards for you and your family, information on income for the last 30 days, and the disconnection or eviction notice, Appointments - call 371- 3000, extension 104 or 160', 1 1:00am - 4:O0pm. Appointments are given for one week from date of call. Deposits for renting an apartment or getting utility services online? emergence moves to subsidized apartments and/or if referred through homeless agencies or domestic violence agencies.
