Patient Assistance
Programs: Many medical companies provide assistance to low-income
patients through their patient assistance programs. To apply, contact the
company that makes the medication, supplies, or equipment that you need.
Several Internet sites provide information and help accessing these programs:
http://www.needymeds.com/ or . Call Pharma Care Direct 1-800-346-9113. MedAssist: For persons age 65 or older, residing in Veterans'
Administration: Veterans enrolled for care at a VA medical center may use the
VA pharmacy for their medications. A VA physician must write prescriptions.
Refill requests may be sent in by mail, and the pharmacy will mail the
medications to the veteran. For additional information - http://www.va.gov/health/elig/. Metrolina AIDS Proiect: Provides ongoing
assistance for persons who are HIV+. There are grants and programs available
to assist clients with medication and other needs. 704-333- 1435. |

Emergency Assistance for Medications |

|
Community Health
Services: Can purchase one prescription per year if it is an emergency
need (subject to availability). Call 704-375-0172. Services for Adults
704-336-4812: Intake social workers can purchase medication for a disabled
adult one time per year through the General Assistance Fund. If the case is
pending with Medicaid, the Benefit Analyst can complete the GA request. Charlotte Area Fund: Assistance with
emergency medications for seniors age 55 or older if they are not receiving
