GENERAL

DSS - Services for Adults, Human Services Transportation

Adult Medicaid (704-353-1900): for disabled adults approved for full Medicaid. Benefits analysts complete the application for their clients. For medical trips only in Mecklenburg County', no cost to the client.

Disabled Transportation (704-336-4812): For disabled persons. For medical trips only', must pay cab driver $1 .50 for each one way trip.

Rural General (704-336-4812): For anyone outside the Charlotte city limits but inside Mecklenburg County. Can take client anywhere in Mecklenburg County to any location. Must pay $1.50 for each one way trip.

Elderly General Purpose (704-336-4812): Transportation to any destination in Mecklenburg County for people age 60 or older.

Veteran's transportations Transportation to VA hospitals and Medical providers. Must be referred by Mecklenburg County Veterans Services office at 704-336-2102.

 

Shepherd's Center - 704-334-4637: Medical appointments', must be able to walk with little or no assistance.

 

 Red Cross - 704-376-1661: Volunteers provide transportation for medical appointments', must be able to walk with little or no assistance.

 

Special Transpiration - 704-336-2637: City of Charlotte Transportation for those unable to ride a regular city bus. Call for an application.

 

Programs for Accessible Living - 704-537-0550: One medical appointment per month for a disabled person.

 

Division of Services for the Blind - 704-342-6185: Assist visually impaired with accessing transportation.

 

Metrolina Association for the Blind - 704-372-3870: Assist visually impaired with learning how to use the bus.

 

Other Transportation

American Cancer Society - 704-376-1659: Road to Recovery provides rides to patients with no means of transportation to radiation and chemotherapy.

 

Matthews Help Center - 704-847-8383: non-emergency medical transportation, including wheel chair transportation for Matthews area residents.

 

Wheelchair transport Services - These companies charge a fee for service.
